Studio projects
Projects created by learning disabled people are central to First Movement's work.
There are three strands of development that are producing new work: Spiral, the performance company associated with First Movement, Media Workshop, which has developed video, music and animation, and Visual Arts Workshop.
The Meeting - an extraordinary meeting was devised by Spiral - and is currently one of three performances that is being performed at festivals, out of doors, and in centres used by other learning disabled people. Spiral have also participated in the making of two films: "See" and "Into Stone".
Media Workshop have created a major media installation, and a wide variety of participatory games for "Experiment Day" at the Level Centre, and which was experienced by the full usership of First Movement. They have also created the media content for programmes being toured in the Level Mobile Studio to festivals and other events including "Surface Tension" and "Centre of the Universe". They are actively leading the development of the Raise digital arts project.
Visual arts work has created the Immersed exhibition and part of the Mis-Placed exhibition shown to the public at the Level Centre.
